This New Moon Invites You to
Meet Yourself Where You Are
As the October New Moon arrives, nestled between the crisp air of autumn and the soft pull toward stillness, we’re reminded that every journey is uniquely our own. Some of us may be just beginning to explore healing and self-discovery, while others have walked this path for years. Wherever you are, you’ll meet resistance, detours, and moments of wonder.
Meeting yourself right where you are, not where you think you should be, is one of the most powerful practices you can cultivate.
Healing Isn’t Linear
We often hear the phrase “healing is not a destination, it’s a journey,” yet our minds crave linear progress: How do I get from point A to point B?
When things feel messy, uncertain, or slower than we’d hoped, discomfort sets in. We may start comparing ourselves to others or forcing ourselves forward before we’re ready — and that pressure can suffocate our natural rhythm of growth (and creativity!).
What if instead, we could see obstacles as weather patterns rather than personal failures?
The path ahead will always shift — sometimes it’s clear skies and sunlight, sometimes fog or a storm. Like the outer weather, our inner atmosphere is ever-changing.
The Weather Within
Our bodies and hearts are living, breathing landscapes. We experience emotional rain, wind, heat, and drought — all part of the natural cycle. The invitation isn’t to avoid the weather, but to learn how to tend to ourselves through it.
When the inner storms arise, ask gently:
“What is the weather like within me right now?”
It’s through that noticing that we begin to cultivate self-compassion, emotional literacy, and true resilience.
Cultivating Emotional Literacy
Emotional literacy is the art of understanding and tending to your internal weather. It begins with awareness and ripens through compassion:
- Notice when obstacles, difficulties, or resistance arise through mindfulness.
- Interpret what’s happening — are these thoughts or feelings rooted in Truth and Love, or in fear and judgment?
- Understand that suffering is part of being human.
- Respond with compassion, not reaction. Try whispering: “May I be kind to myself in this moment of suffering.”
- Regulate by reaching for what grounds you. Your inner wisdom already knows what helps you feel safe and held.
Remember: co-regulation teaches self-regulation. It’s okay to reach out for connection before you find stillness within.
Your Inner Toolkit Ritual
When it’s raining outside, we instinctively reach for an umbrella, a jacket, a warm drink. So when it’s stormy inside, what protections and comforts can you offer yourself?
To support this practice, I’m offering you my Coping Kits and Soothing Kits template as a New Moon Toolkit Ritual — to help you build your own set of grounding supports.
💧 Coping Kits contain relaxers — things that help you unwind, breathe, or soothe your nervous system.
🌿 Soothing Kits include gentle distractors — activities or sensory comforts that shift your focus when emotions feel overwhelming.
Your Ritual:
- Print your toolkit handout and light a candle.
- Spend a few quiet minutes reflecting on your “inner weather.”
- Choose 3–5 items or practices that bring you comfort. Write or place them in your kit.
- Close your ritual by placing your hands over your heart and saying:
“May I meet myself with compassion, exactly as I am.”
Be creative — your kits can evolve with the seasons and your needs.

Closing Reflection
The New Moon is a tender beginning – a time to rest in the dark, to plant intentions without rushing their bloom.
This month, may you remember that even when the weather changes, you are the sky — vast enough to hold it all.
