New Moon Solstice 12/20/25
New Moon Blessings,
This morning I’m reflecting on the fact that we are in between a new moon and the winter solstice.
A threshold.
A pause.
A space in between.
A new moon brings a darker night sky, and the solstice brings more time in that darkness. In the dark stillness of this pause, this new moon invites us to listen closely to what wants to come forth from the dark.
We are taught from a young age to fear the dark.
But what do we sacrifice by avoiding it?
Everything created begins in the dark.
What would it be like to welcome the dark as an incubator for creativity and new beginnings instead of to fear it?
In this new moon-solstice threshold, we experience a day dominated by darkness, and the invitation is to meet this darkness with more openness.
New Moon Solstice Ritual
If possible, sit in a quiet, darkened room free from distractions.
Let yourself settle with a few full, deep breaths.
Bring your awareness to the center of your forehead and envision a vast, dark, night sky.
With curiosity, consider:
- What is waiting to be born within me?
- What do I want to bring to life?
- What can I let go of to make space for your creation?
Journal, draw, paint, dance or, in your own way, express whatever comes up for you.
